How to Build a Home
Have you ever wondered what it takes to take a home from blueprint to dedication? Scroll through the gallery below to follow each step of the housebuilding process.
Floorplan of home to be built. Approximately 20 feet x 20 feet.
6-8 weeks prior to the build a FPC team arrives to build the foundation. The work includes clearing, leveling, framing a form and pouring concrete.
The FPC Youth builders arrive the first of June. Day one work begins with dry stacking the concrete blocks (800 per house) for 4 exterior walls and 3 interior walls.
Metal doors (front & back) and 2-3 metal windows are installed. The doors and windows are made by a local craftsman.
After the walls are stacked, names of donors, prayers and Bible verses are written on the walls.
Stucco (surface bonding cement) is applied to interior and exterior walls to add rigidity and smoothed with sponges.
U-blocks are placed around the top of all walls tying the corners all together with rebar and concrete.
The concrete is made with sand, cement, a little rhythm and lots of muscle.
Roof panels are hoisted into place and bolted down.
On the morning of Day 6, the homes are dedicated to God and the families.
